Gate Cottage self catering holiday accommodation

NEW TO HOLIDAY MARKET 2017!

Set in the heart of Porlock Vale, Gate Cottage is a selfcatering cottage with a beautiful view from every window.

Freshly refurbished its 3 double bedrooms, (one with twin beds, two with king size beds) the cosy cottage makes you feel pampered in a home away from home. Gate Cottage has a courtyard garden with overflowing pots of fresh herbs and a ready barbeque to take full advantage of its position as a private sun-trap.

Gate Cottage loungeThe living-room has a log-burner, tv, dvd player and comfy sofas. The kitchen is a light bright galley style with a door that leads onto the garden The dinning room can comfortably seat six.

We believe in welcoming every member of the family and that includes furry, waggy ones, the beauty of the area is definitely one best shared with our four legged friends, all that we ask is that paws are wiped and kept on the floor.

Outside of the door the private lane leads directly into the woods of the National Trust Holnicote Estate and is about a 20 minute walk to the south west costal path. The stunning scenery is criss-crossed with hundreds of walks straight from the cottage door.

There are fresh free range eggs and organically grown vegetables for sale from Lynch Mill, the neighbours of the cottage with a quaint honesty box. The village of Porlock is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive and offers a good range of places to eat out, with three pubs, two restaurants, two local shops, art gallery, museum, butcher, chemist etc. Ten minutes drive away is Minehead with a full range of shops and several supermarkets.

Exmoor is vibrant place with many places to enjoy on your stay, but a few local attractions are the Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre (2mins from the Cottage) where you can book a bird experience day, or go out on one of their horses for a ride. In Allerford 5 minutes walk away there is museum, tea room and Cross Lanes restaurant.

Walk the other way down the road and you will find yourself 5 minutes walk from the sea with views of the coast peeping through the trees and gateways as you walk. The village you pass through on you way to the sea is called Bossington and has been plucked straight from the front of a chocolate box, with thatched houses, bread ovens on the side and a pretty little tea room called Kitnors which does one of the best cream teas in the area. Once through Bossington it is only a short distance to the beach, you can walk all the way round the bay on the shingle bank to Porlock Weir, the tiny harbour, where you can enjoy eating the local oysters at the Cafe or visit Exmoor Glass to watch the crafts men blowing beautiful creations.
